Over Seventy (70) Alumni of UTech, Jamaica visited our campus today, Wednesday 2nd May, 2018 to share goodwill with our University on a special and important occasion in the life of our University.
Though inappropriate to share event details online, we wanted to say a BIG “Thank You” to all our Alumni—, those who came by, those who were late and maintained good humour, and those based locally and overseas who couldn’t attend, yet emailed to wish us well.
Your LOVE for your Alma Mater couldn’t be more tangible. LOOK…Faculty of Science & Sport (FOSS) Alumni Couple Gavin Palmer and wife Neco Gordon-Palmer ‘2015 showed up with Baby Alumna Naomi Palmer all of 1 year and 4 months. She came to check out her future University!!!

The Alumni Community of the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Ja) wishes to express heartfelt admiration and congratulations to Mr. Ronald “Ronnie” Sutherland, President, Alumni Association, UTech and General Manager, FYAH 105 FM, on being the recipient of the Distinguished Past Student Award, 2017, University of Technology, Jamaica. The award was shared at the University’s 47th Annual Awards Ceremony, held Friday, May 26th, 2017 at the Papine Campus.
Below we share the citation read in honour of Ronnie, who has enjoyed a vibrant and robust career across multiple industries, and has served his Alma Mater, UTech Jamaica, commendably.
We continue to wish him much success in his personal and professional life, and look forward to experiencing his ongoing positive engagement with our University.
CITATION
Since leaving UTech, Ja., Ronald Sutherland has distinguished himself in a variety of industries inclusive of broadcast media, manufacturing and sales and marketing. Mr. Sutherland received a Diploma in Engineering from CAST and later a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. Additional studies in Business and Management in the United Kingdom further equipped him for what would become his life’s work. The valuable experience gained by stints at CVM TV, Lasco Group of Companies, Jamaica Producers Group and the Seprod Groups, among others, has established him as an expert in areas of Strategic/Tactical Planning, Business and New Programme Development, Regulatory Compliance, Recruitment and Team Management. Through his expertise in these areas, he has made significant contribution to the social, political and economic life of Jamaica. He is currently the General Manager of S and B Communications Ltd. FYAH 105 FM, Jamaica’s latest radio station which currently ranks 6th of 32 radio stations. (more…)

Pharmacy Alumni Association (UPA) and the Caribbean Institute of Pharmacy Policy, Practice and Research (CIPPPAR) on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the UTech, Ja. Papine campus.
On Sunday, November 20, 2016 the College of Health Sciences (COHS), University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Ja.) in collaboration with the UTech, Ja. Pharmacy Alumni Association (UPA) and the Caribbean Institute of Pharmacy Policy, Practice and Research (CIPPPAR) hosted the annual Grace Allen Young Memorial Lecturer under the theme, “Ethics Confounded: A Threat to Public Health and Safety” at the UTech, Ja. On behalf of the UTech Alumni Executive, we would like you to convey our sympathies to the family of the Student murdered on Wednesday Night.
Let the Science faculty know that we mourn with them in their loss and join with them in condemning this brutal behavior of our criminals.We understand that this is a symptom of the wider challenges within out Society and will do our part to assist in finding a solution to make our students more secure.
