INDUSTRIAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST   

 (Level 7)

The School of Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Computing (FENC) invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the position of Industrial Laboratory Technologist. The selected candidate will assist in the instruction and demonstration of industrial engineering methodologies and in conducting fundamental and applied research in industrial engineering and related fields. The incumbent will assist in the day to day activities to ensure the smooth running of the laboratories.

 

Qualifications & Experience

 

  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • At least four (4) years’ experience in a similar position or in an industrial setting.
  • Sound knowledge of principles and application of industrial and production engineering.
  • Knowledge of maintenance, improvisation and repair of industrial engineering equipment.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of analytical techniques and equipment used in testing the properties of materials.
  • Knowledge of industrial processes involved in the major engineering subject areas: mechanical systems, properties of materials, manufacturing technologies.
  • Knowledge of computer aided drawing,  manufacturing  and computer numerical controlled machines

A growing company would like to hire results oriented sales representatives to drive sales of their information and communication technology (ICT) solutions to the business sector.  The ICT solutions to be sold include:


  • Mobile Services
  • Cloud Services
  • Voice Services
  • Broadband Services
  • Video Entertainment Services

A background in sales/marketing is not necessary as Product and Sales Training will be provided. However the company believes that persons who have studied a technology related discipline or have technology related work experience or have a strong aptitude for information and communication technology, will perform best in the role of ICT Business Solutions Sales Representative.

The Ideal Candidates will

  • Display strong knowledge of &/ or aptitude to learn information and communication technology (ICT) solutions (*Required regardless background)
  • Have certification or work experience in a technology oriented discipline e.g. Information Technology, Computer Sciences, Engineering (*Preferred)
  • Have certification in Sales & Marketing or experience in sales in a technology based environment. However training will be provided.
  • Own/have consistent access to a reliable motor car
  • Be pleasant with strong interpersonal skills
  • Be a strong and persuasive communicator
  • Be self-motivated, driven and with a passion to exceed targets

Edward Seaga, ON, PC (right) Chancellor, University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Ja.) welcomes Prof. Stephen Vasciannie, CD, President, University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Ja.) during a courtesy call on him on Friday, January 6, 2017 at Mr. Seaga’s Distinguished Fellow Offices at UWI, Mona. Prof. Vasciannie was accompanied by Michael McAnuff-Jones, Deputy Chairman of Council and Dr. Elaine Wallace, University Registrar. Prof. Vasciannie took up office as President of UTech, Jamaica on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. His courtesy call on the Chancellor is part of a series of on boarding activities to introduce Prof. Vasciannie to the University’s internal and external stakeholders.
