Anthony, The Friendly Cop – Police Constable Brightens The Day Of Many
In Half-Way Tree

UTech Ja Alumnus Anthony Taylor, Jamaica Gleaner 30-04-2018

Published:Monday | April 30, 2018 | 12:00 AM Jodi-Ann Gilpin/Gleaner Writer

More than a decade after he was abused by members of a police team, Anthony Taylor is trying his hardest to help change the image of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), and he is doing it from the inside.

Having joined the JCF three years ago, Taylor, now a constable, is providing a spark in Half-Way Tree, St Andrew.

His smiles, frequent handshakes and pleasant greetings brighten the morning for motorists and pedestrians in the heavily trafficked area near the transport centre.

“He is friendly, full o’ manners and he knows how to deal with people. Him a good police,” said Kemar Bennett, a vendor who operates close by the transport centre where Taylor is stationed.

Major Alicia Cooper – Challenge accepted

BY KIMBERLEY HIBBERT
Jamaica Observer, Monday, April 16, 2018

MAJOR Alicia Cooper is committed to positively shaping the lives of youngsters and Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) recruits through her role as the first female detachment commander in the history of the JDF.

But this God-centred, family-oriented and hard-working woman did not always have an interest in the army; in fact, she told All Woman that she aspired to be a chef and took to cooking [as much as she could] as she thought it would prepare her for a culinary career. (more…)

See below for the announcement of the appointment of the Commissioners made by Prime Minister Andrew Holness on his facebook page today.

=====================================================================

Yesterday I met with the five Commissioners of the new single anti-corruption agency – Integrity Commission.

I wanted to thank them for accepting the appointments and for serving Jamaica.

My administration is committed to charting a new course for Jamaica.

The new Integrity Commission, which is a merger of the Contractor General’s Department, the Integrity Commission and the Corruption Prevention Commission, must act as an example of the efficiency in stamping out corruption to make Jamaica the least corrupt place in the world.

The Commission must be a model agency for efficiency as wherever there is inefficiency there is corruption. The Commissioners must therefore ensure efficiency in their operations as it will be a catalyst to remove corruption.

The members of the Commission are:

Hon. Mr. Justice Karl Harrison (retired) – Chairman
Hon. Mr. Justice Seymore Panton (Retired)
Mrs. Pamela Munroe-Ellis, Auditor General
Eric Crawford, Tax Expert
Derrick McKoy, Attorney-at-law and former Contractor General
