The Career and Placement Unit will be hosting its annual Career and Job Placement Fair Online from Wednesday, March 10, 2021 – Friday, March 12, 2021 themed “Advancing into the World of Work.” Final year students, who have registered to be a part of this grand professional building and networking opportunity, will get the chance to be interviewed by the participating companies. While some students will get the opportunity to improve their interview and communication skills, attaining employment will be a possibility for others.
Over the years, the Unit has observed that in some cases a few of our male students are not appropriately dressed for their professional interviews, and in most cases, this is as a result financial constraints. After making this observation, the Unit started the “Fit to Recruit Charity” in 2015, which seeks to find sponsorship to assist those male students with financial difficulties for their interviews. Since the inception of this project, we have attained sponsorship that allowed us to suit over 80 males appropriately for their interviews.

Dear UTech, Ja. Alumni:
Re: UTech, JA. – “Fit” to Recruit Charity – Request for Donations
Imagine being the first in your family to go to college, being away from home and somewhat maturing in a strange environment. Imagine being from a needy family, that has spent all they had to help you through your university days, and they have no more to give? Where would you go for help? What if you were from a family that “dressing up” was not a routine and you simply lack both the knowledge and the means to do so? If after spending four years in college in a struggling economy a job opportunity presented itself, would you want to be dressed properly to make a strong first impression? Our final year male students would.
The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Ja) host its annual Career & Job Placement Fair in the Alfred Sangster Auditorium on Friday March 15, 2019 under the theme “Advancing into the World of Work.” As one of the leading institutions in the region, we believe it is our responsibility to provide avenues for our students to interact with recruiters locally, regionally and internationally. Dear UTech Alumni,
Can we help each other?
We’d like to think so!
But just to be sure, if you don’t mind us asking….
- Would it help to boost your confidence, if you were sure you had a well crafted, value adding resume and/or LinkedIn Profile, which clearly and impressively answers the No. 1 question in a Hiring Manager’s mind “What value will this candidate add to my organization?”
- Would you feel more hopeful if you had someone to help you develop a job search or career management strategy so you could get on with your life…with better fit between who you are and what you do, plus better compensation-focus-joy-peace?
- Would it mean a lot to you to be able to handle this…wait…period [the wait to find a job, or the wait to find a better job] without feeling fearful, angry, anxious and uncertain?
If You Answered “Yes!” to Any of the Questions
Then we can definitely help each other!
