o   Lecturer  – Culinary Arts and Management (Full-Time) 

 

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:                     

The successful candidate should possess at least a Master’s Degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management or a professional certification at the highest level in this area of specialization or a related area.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

The candidate must have a minimum of three (3) years’ professional experience in the Culinary Arts, preferably at the management level.  The candidate will also need to demonstrate a clear commitment to teaching as well as research, and show evidence of successful educational/training practice.  He/she will offer teaching through a variety of means including lectures, practicals, small group tutorials, problem-based learning, and ‘e-learning’ initiatives, and will be expected to innovate in each of these areas.

 

The candidate should be able to conduct food demonstrations and have expertise in  baking and pastry arts, executing capstone modules to include international cuisine, and a la carte and restaurant series.

 

o   Lecturer – Food & Beverage Management (Full-Time) 

 

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:                     

The successful candidate should possess at least a Master’s Degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management or a professional certification at the highest level in this area of specialization or a related area.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

The candidate must have a minimum of three (3) years’ professional experience in Food and Beverage Operation, preferably at the management level.  The candidate will also need to demonstrate a clear commitment to teaching as well as research, and show evidence of successful educational/training practice. He/she will offer teaching through a variety of means including lectures, practicals, small group tutorials, problem-based learning, and ‘e-learning’ initiatives, and will be expected to innovate in each of these areas.

 

The candidate will be expected to deliver in the following areas:

  • Bar and Beverage Management
  • Dining Room Services – Basic and advanced
  • Banquet Operations
  • Restaurant Operations

 

*Our compensation package includes a contributory pension scheme, health coverage and a group life insurance scheme. 

 

o   Culinary laboratory Assistant – Level 5B -(Temporary)

 

 POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent is responsible for providing direction to culinary students and assist the instructor in the preparation and production of all hot and cold foods, baked goods and pastries in an instructional kitchen.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • The successful candidate should possess a Diploma in General catering or Baking Technology or Pastry Making and Cake Decorating or Level 3 Cook – Heart NCTVET Certification equivalent qualification. 
  • Food Handler’s Permit

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants should have at least two (2) years’ experience in a related environment, preferably in a University setting.  Applicants must have the ability to interact effectively with diverse academic and student population.

In addition, he developed a strong interest in web development and digital marketing.

BACKGROUND

Regional Context

  • The Integrating Water, Land and Ecosystems Management in Caribbean Small Island Developing States (IWEco Project) is financed by the Global Environment Facility. IWEco is a five-year project with four components; (1) development and implementation of integrated targeted innovative, climate-change resilient approaches in sustainable land management (SLM), integrated water resources management (IWRM) and maintenance of ecosystem services; (2) strengthening of the SLM, IWRM and ecosystems monitoring, and indicators framework; (3) strengthening of the Policy, legislative and institutional reforms and capacity building for SLM, IWRM and ecosystem services management taking into consideration climate change resilience building and (4) Enhancing knowledge exchange, best practices, replication and stakeholder involvement.
  • The United Nations Environment Programme Caribbean Regional Coordinating Unit (UNEP CAR/RCU) is the lead implementing agency with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) a part of the implementation for some activities under the knowledge management and community-based livelihoods support opportunities through the GEF-Small Grants Programme.  The project will be implemented in 10 Caribbean countries including Jamaica.  UNEP CAR/RCU in partnership with the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) serve as co-executing agencies
  • The project cooperative agreement between Jamaica and the UN environment was signed on July 12, 2018, (the Non-reimbursable Financing Agreement UNEP/PCA/ECOSYSTEMS/2018/MCEB-CEP/003) in their capacity as the Administrator of the Global Environment Facility Fund (GEF) grants for the national subproject titled “Biodiversity Mainstreaming in Coastal Landscapes within the Negril Environmental Protection Area of Jamaica”.
