Dear UTech, Jamaica Alumni & Friends,

Andre Campbell graduated from UTech, Jamaica in 2012, BSc Construction Management, Faculty of the Built Environment, and demonstrated to us and the world, his indomitable spirit. Three years earlier in 2009, while still our student, Andre, as an innocent bystander, was shot twice by a gunman in the neck and the abdomen and became a paraplegic from the waist down.

After these many years of trying to get financial support to achieve his goal of being able to walk again, Andre has recently received significant help. Based on his Go Fund Me updates, we learned that he has decided to pursue the SCI-FIT Rehabilitation Programme. SCI-FIT  (Spinal Cord Injury Functional Integrated Therapy) is based in Sacramento CA, USA. Andre is receiving support from ONE LOVE J.A. and hopes to receive our help as well. (more…)

I was shot twice, once in the neck and the other in the abdomen, the shot to the neck entered the left “middle zone” region of the neck and exited at the right auricular region. The bullet to the abdomen damaged my lower intestines and a fragmented piece of the bullet entered the left eleven (11) thoracic vertebrae and lodged in the right of the vertebrae which caused instant paralysis.
