Culinary Laboratory Assistant – Temporary Position – (4 months)

 

 

The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management offers full-time and part-time programmes in a variety of hospitality and tourism related disciplines. Currently, the School offers the following University Council of Jamaica accredited Degree programmes: The Bachelor of Science Degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management and the Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Service Management. The school also offers certificates in Baking Technology, and short courses in General Catering, Exotic Sugar Flower, Wedding Cake and Designs, and Event Planning and Management. 

The Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for the set-up and breakdown of equipment/utensils and food items for laboratory sessions/demonstrations and provide assistance to students and lecturers as required. (more…)

Culinary Laboratory Assistant

The Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for the set-up and breakdown of equipment/utensils and food items for laboratory sessions/demonstrations and provide assistance to students and lecturers as required.

Requirements:

The preferred applicant will possess:
1. a Diploma in General Catering, Baking Technology or Pastry Making and Cake Decorating;
2. Level 3 Cook – HEART Certification equivalent qualification;
3. Current Food Handler’s Permit;
4. Good oral and written communication skills;
5. A minimum of two (2) year’s experience in a kitchen;
6. Training in food preparation; good knowledge of food arrangement; weighing, measuring and conversion of ingredients; knowledge of food laboratory safety rules/procedures; be able to use kitchen equipment/utensils.
7. Knowledge and experience in storage and inventory management
