An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Student Debt Recovery Unit in the Finance & Business Services Division for the following post:

Accounting Assistant (Level 5B)




The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for the collection of students’ debt, which is in line with the University’s Debt Management policies.  The incumbent will also be responsible to ensure that delinquent students and scholarship granting institutions are corresponded to concerning outstanding balances whilst providing excellent customer service to the University’s clients.




  • Diploma in Business Administration/Accounts or equivalent qualifications from a recognized university.
  • Good knowledge of collection policies and procedures, fair debt collection practices and related laws;
  • Good knowledge and understanding of basic accounting procedures, principles and practices;
  • Knowledge of credit control and collection techniques;
  • Knowledge of student record system;
  • Knowledge of telephone etiquette and techniques;
  • Excellent communication (oral/written), interpersonal, time management, analytical, problem-solving and organization skills; and keen attention to detail;
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in the areas of accounting or administrative /business experience.
