The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Jamaica) seeks to identify a suitable candidate to fill the post in the School of Engineering (Electrical):


Laboratory Technologist – Electrical Engineering – Level 7


The Laboratory Technologist is responsible for assisting, instructing and supervising students in conducting laboratory experiments, and the proper usage of machineries and equipment.  The Technologist is also to liaise with lecturers in the preparation and delivery of the course material, as well as to ensure safety standards are adhered to by all users of the laboratory.


The preferred applicant should possess

  • a First Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications;
  • at least three (3) years experience in a laboratory;
  • knowledge of Electrical Engineering principles;
  • knowledge of equipment maintenance and repair;
  • training in LabVIEW, Matlabm and Simulink;
  • training in occupational health and safety;
  • good research methodologies and problem solving skills;
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and
  • working knowledge of UTech policies and procedures.
