FULL-TIME AND PART-TIME LECTURERS

SCHOOL OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

FACULTY OF EDUCATION AND LIBERAL STUDIES

 

 

The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Jamaica), School of Humanities and Social Sciences seeks to identify experienced professionals to fill the following full-time and part-time positions as  Lecturers:

 

  1. Lecturers in Spanish language (full-time, Kingston; part-time, Montego May)

 

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:

 

The successful candidates for the position of Lecturers, Spanish Language should

  • possess at least a Master’s Degree in Spanish or a related area;
  • be competent in current approaches to the teaching of foreign languages;
  • demonstrate evidence of research into the teaching of Spanish or a related area;
  • have a minimum of three years’ experience teaching Spanish at the tertiary level.

 

                                                                                                                                                           

  1. Lecturers in Psychology/Sociology/Social Psychology (full-time, Montego Bay)

 

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:

 

The successful candidates for the position of Lecturers in Psychology/Sociology/Social Psychology (full-time, Montego Bay) should

  • possess at least a Master’s Degree in Psychology/Sociology/Social Psychology;
  • be competent to teach courses in Psychology/Sociology/Social Psychology at the undergraduate level;
  • demonstrate evidence of research in any of the above areas; and
  • have a minimum of three years’ experience teaching any of these areas at the tertiary level.

 

 

  1. Lecturers in Journalism and/or writing for media (full-time and part-time, Kingston)

 

 

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS                                                              

 

The successful candidates for the position of Lecturers Journalism/Writing for Media should

 

  • possess at least a Master’s Degree in Journalism or media and communication;
  • have been a practicing journalist for at least five years;
  • be familiar with current approaches to the teaching of journalism/media writing;
  • be willing to engage in research in journalism/media writing; and
  • have at least three years’ experience teaching fashion design at the post-secondary level.

 

 

  1. Lecturers in Academic Writing (part-time, Kingston and Montego Bay)

 

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

 

The successful candidates for the position of Lecturers, Academic Writing (Part-Time) Kingston & Montego Bay should

 

  • possess a Master’s Degree in Language Education/Composition/Linguistics or an equivalent discipline;
  • be competent in second language approaches to the teaching of English;
  • demonstrate evidence of productivity in the area of Academic Writing; and
  • have a minimum of three years’ experience teaching Language and Academic Literacy at the tertiary level.
