The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Jamaica) seeks to identify a suitable candidate to fill the following post in the Division of Student Services & Registry:


Deputy Registrar   (Level 11)

The Deputy Registrar is a member of the Executive Management team providing high level managerial support to the University Registrar in the management of all major registrarial activities including admission and enrolment, registration, scheduling, administering local and international examination on behalf of the University, overseeing the creation and maintenance of student records and the issuance of official academic transcripts and degree scrolls.

He/she participates in the planning of the graduation exercise and has responsibility for the preparation and distribution of academic awards, maintaining the confidentiality of data stored, and proposing new and amended student related policies and procedures published in the Student Handbook as well as the academic policy documents.

As a member of the leadership team, the Deputy Registrar advises the Registrar on key issues related to registration/enrolment and recommends appropriate actions and direction.

The Deputy Registrar acts in the absence of the Registrar or during a vacancy in the office of the Registrar, and is required to attend meetings of the University Council.



The preferred applicant should possess

  • Master’s Degree in Education Administration or equivalent qualifications;
  • Postgraduate qualification in a related discipline;
  • Knowledge of the University of Technology, Jamaica Act (l999), Policies,, Procedures, Regulations and Ordinances;
  • Knowledge of Higher Education Systems and their Administration;
  • Knowledge of Academic Policies, Regulations and Procedures of the University;
  • Knowledge of Student Records Systems used by other universities;
  • Knowledge of Accreditation requirements;
  • Excellent presentation, communication and human relations skills.


At least seven (7) years’ experience in an educational institution at a senior level, with at least three (3) years administering student affairs.
