An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Office of Curriculum Development & Evaluation (OCDE) for the following post:

Curriculum Specialist – Permanent (Level 10)



The Curriculum Specialist, OCDE has responsibility for providing specialist technical assistance to the University’s academic units in the areas of course of study and module design and development.  S/he is also responsible for assisting with training academic staff in specific areas related to quality assurance.  Additional duties include providing assistance to the Associate Vice-President Academic Management and Quality Assurance, in areas related to quality assurance and curriculum-related research.  The scope of duties includes the review and monitoring of courses of study offered at the main, and satellite campuses of the University.


Qualifications & Experience


  • A Doctoral degree in Curriculum Design or Educational Planning or Educational Administration or Educational Measurement and Assessment, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Five (5) years experience in designing curricula using outcomes-based approaches at a higher education institution.
  • Knowledge of course of study development systems for outcomes-based curriculum design in higher education.
  • Knowledge of research methodologies.
  • Knowledge of learner-centred/student-centred teaching methodologies.
  • Knowledge of designing curricula for online delivery
  • Knowledge of testing and assessment methodologies.
  • Knowledge of programme evaluation methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Principles of adult learning and learner-centred course planning.
  • Knowledge of accreditation processes and standards for higher education.
  • Familiarity with international and local tertiary level educational standards and accreditation strategies.
  • Specialised training in Adult learning methodologies and techniques, curriculum design for higher education and course of study/module evaluation
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Workshop presentation skills
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Detail oriented.
