The University of Technology, Jamaica hosted its first networking event for its Alumni Community for 2016 – UTech, Ja Alumni MEET Up! on Thursday, January 28, 2016.

Topic: How to Start a Small Business in Jamaica

  • Assist with employee orientation, development, training logistics and recordkeeping
  • Compose routine correspondence (Letters, Employment Contracts, etc.)
  • Monitor Vacation Leave and maintain Job Descriptions, Personnel Files etc.
  • Administration of Employee Benefits: Insurances: Group Life; Personal; Health; etc.
  • Liaise with NIS, NHT, Finance and other institutions as is necessary
  • Assist with reports regarding employee safety, welfare, wellness and health
  • Act as liaison between the company and varied Government Ministries/Agencies, regulatory and professional bodies and inform management of trends and developments in the varied areas such labour laws, employee benefits, etc.
  • Assist with employee relations
  • Listen to staff grievances and recommends disciplinary action to the Human Resource Manager,based on policies in force.
  • Implement special projects being administered by the Department.
  • Assist with varied community relation projects that the company undertakes
    Any other related duties that may be assigned.
