An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Division of Human Resources and Administration for the following post:



Senior Director, Human Resources  – Level 11


The Senior Director, Human Resources, is a member of the executive management team, and is responsible for assisting the University in building capabilities, identifying and managing talent, and establishing alignment between the University’s corporate strategies and Human Resource practices and competencies.

He/she provides leadership in promoting and enhancing a diverse workforce, integrating the core values of the organization in the culture, assessing the need for and the delivery of effective  training and development programmes, establishing effective succession planning procedures and ensuring equitable salary and benefits structures for the University.  In addition, the Senior Director is responsible for consistent and equitable interpretation of employment policies and serves as an internal consultant for organizational development issues.


Qualifications & Experience


  • Masters’ Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Management, Behavioural Science, Psychology or any other related discipline from a recognized higher education institution.
  • At least ten (10) years experience as a Human Resources Practitioner in a large unionized organization, with at least five (5) years at the senior management level..
  • Expert knowledge of Labour Laws and Industrial Relations policies and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Contract Administration.
  • Knowledge of current trends in collective bargaining.
  • Knowledge of benefits arrangements in the Public Sector.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of best practices in industrial and employee relations.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Excellent negotiating/mediating and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent leadership, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Performance Based Management Systems and Employee Incentive Schemes.
  • Knowledge of the Public Sector Staff Orders
  • Knowledge of the University’s policies would be an asset
