Today (Thursday)Minister Thwaites contacted UTech Acting President Professor Colin Gyles to convey the Ministry’s deepest sympathies to Ms Walters’ colleagues and the university family. He welcomed the management’s decision to make grief counselling available to students who need it.

Minister Thwaites has also extended condolences to Ms Walters’ relatives.

The Education Minister is calling on the Jamaica Constabulary Force to swiftly bring the perpetrators of this “dastardly act” to justice and to increase security surveillance of the adjoining residential areas that students of UTech and the University of the West indies Mona have to traverse.
