Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants to fill the following position:

Microsoft Systems Engineer

Reporting to the Resolution Manager, the Systems Engineer will be responsible for preventing Problems and resulting Incidents from happening, to eliminate recurring Incidents,  and minimize the impact of Incidents that cannot be prevented. Primary responsibilities of the role include the following:

  • Restore service caused by errors or faults within multiple Microsoft Exchange Server environments
  • Reporting on Incident trend data to identify recurrent Incidents and managing root cause analysis
  • Initiating actions to fix potential interruptions to service identified during proactive trend analysis and health checks of the Microsoft environment
  • Diagnosing of Incidents and determining whether new Incidents are related to known errors or existing Problems
  • Leading and facilitating post mortem investigations into high impact Problems
  • Facilitating and coordinating meetings with technical teams, customers and vendors

Minimum Education, Experience and Competencies

  • First degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • Six (6) years’ experience in a similar position
  • ITIL V3 Foundation Certification
  • Subject matter expert (SME) in Microsoft Exchange
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Messaging
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, Lync, SQL, SharePoint and Office 365
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with demonstrated ability to master new technologies
  • Must be comfortable working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Strong customer service orientation
