Resident Treasury Advisor for Jamaica, IMF (Job Number: 1400782)


The Fiscal Affairs Department (FAD) of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is seeking an experienced Treasury Management Advisor to work as a long term resident advisor in the Ministry of Finance and Planning (MOFP) of Jamaica under a project funded by the government of Canada to support core MOFP functions.The advisor will be responsible for the component of the project dealing with modernization of the Accountant General’s Department. The selected candidate will be based in Kingston and backstopped by FAD staff. The Advisor’s appointment would be for a period of two years.

Jamaica has made considerable progress in strengthening its public financial management (PFM) system in recent years.The successful candidate’s main tasks will be to help expand the coverage and use of the Treasury Single Account, increase functionality of the existing government IFMIS, develop cash planning and management, and modernize/restructure accounting and reporting operations.
A substantial volume of technical assistance is being provided to Jamaica by other donors and international institutions. The advisor will need to coordinate his/her activities with these counterparts and seek synergies where possible. The advisor will also liaise, as needed, with the IMF resident advisor and country team that supports Jamaica’s 4-year Extended Fund Facility arrangement with the IMF.
