FULL TIME LECTURERS

 

The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) is a government institution that provides accredited education programmes at the undergraduate and graduate levels for a diverse student body. In an effort to continue our drive towards stimulating positive change in the Caribbean society through provision of high quality learning, research opportunities and service to our communities, we are seeking two (2) full-time Lecturers in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, Faculty of Science & Sport.

The Faculty of Science and Sport replaces and builds on the former Department of Science and Mathematics. It offers courses of study at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and continues to offer science and mathematics modules for all courses of study in all Faculties/Colleges across the University. In addition to research and consultancy work, the Faculty contributes to the development of science and technology within the society.

The successful applicants will make a significant contribution to the University’s teaching and research profile by undertaking teaching across several undergraduate and graduate programmes, conducting research leading to grants and publications, engaging in consultancy and professional projects, and contributing to the further development of the University.

 

SCHOOL OF MATHEMATICS & STATISTICS

 

The School of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for the post of Lecturer in each of the following areas:

 

  1. Advanced Statistical Methods & Research Methodologies

 

Academic requirements:                 

 

The candidate must:

  1. Possess a PhD in Applied Statistics \ Statistics \ Quantitative Techniques
  2. Have experience in teaching Research Methodology to both Graduate and Undergraduate students
  3. Possess knowledge of SPSS, Minitab, SAS, R ,Atlas Ti and other relevant software used in the learning and teaching of Quantitative and Qualitative Research
  4. Possess at least one publication from a peer –reviewed Journal

 

  1. Mathematics Education

 

Academic requirements:                 

 

The candidate must:

  1. Possess a PhD  in Mathematics Education
  2. Possess knowledge of SPSS, MATLAB and other relevant software used in the learning and teaching of mathematics at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels
  3. Have experience in teaching mathematics and education modules at the Master’s level
  4. Possess at least one publication from a peer –reviewed Journal

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

 

Each candidate should :

 

■    Be willing to travel to all islandwide campuses

■    Have an interest in developing services to industry and the public at large

■    Demonstrate commitment to research and teaching

■    Be innovative in their teaching strategies for lectures, practicals, small group tutorials, problem-based sessions, and ‘e-learning’ initiatives

■    Be a problem solver and critical thinker  that  can complement the  existing team of  professionals
