COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES

FULL TIME LECTURERS

 

The University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) is a government institution that provides accredited education programmes at the undergraduate and graduate levels for a diverse student body.  To continue our drive towards stimulating positive change in the Caribbean society through provision of high quality learning and research opportunities and service to our communities, we are seeking to recruit a number of full-time Lecturers in the College of Health Sciences.

The successful applicant will make a significant contribution to the University’s teaching and research profile by undertaking teaching across several undergraduate and graduate course work programs, conducting research leading to grants and publications, engaging in consultancy and professional projects, and contributing to the further development of the University.

The College of Health Sciences offers a wide range of graduate and undergraduate degree programmes in areas such as Pharmacy, Nursing, Dietetics and Nutrition, Medical Technology, Child and Adolescent Development, Health Information Technology, Health Administration and Complementary Medicine. In addition, the College is actively involved in research that will address/provide solutions to health care problems in the country and the region.

  • CARIBBEAN SCHOOL OF NURSING
    1. General Nursing (Montego Bay Campus and Papine Campuses)

     

             Academic requirements:

    1. The successful candidates must be in possession of a M.Sc. in Nursing Education or related Clinical area
    2. Must be a Registered Nurse.

     

    1. General Nursing/Midwifery

     

            Academic requirements:

    1. The successful candidates must be in possession of a M.Sc. in Nursing Education or related Clinical area
    2. Must be a Registered Nurse
    3. Must be a Registered Midwife.

     

  • SCHOOL OF ALLIED HEALTH AND WELLNESS 
    1. Health Administration

     

           Academic requirements:

    1. The successful candidates must be in possession of a Ph.D in Health Administration or related discipline.
    2. A minimum of three (3) years experience in Teaching in Higher Education
    3. Previous employment in the Public Sector would be an asset.

     

    1. Dietetics and Nutrition

     

            Academic requirements:

    1. The successful candidates must be in possession of a M.Sc. in Nutrition Studies.
    2. Experience in Teaching in Higher Education would be an asset.

     

    1. Pharmacognosy & Wellness

     

            Academic requirements:

    1. The successful candidates must be in possession of a Ph.D in Pharmacognosy or Medical Chemistry or Applied Organic Chemistry.
    2. A minimum of three (3) years experience in Teaching in Higher Education

     

  • SCHOOL OF PHARMACY 
    1. Clinic Duty Coordinator

     

           Academic requirements:

    1. The successful candidates must be in possession of a Bachelor of Pharmacy
    2. Must be a Registered Pharmacist
    3. A minimum of two (2) years experience in Community/retail/hospital experience
    4. Must own a motor vehicle

     

    1. Pharmaceutical Technology

     

           Academic requirements:

    1. The successful candidates must be in possession of a M.Sc./M.Phil in Pharmaceutics or Pharmaceutical Technology
    2. Experience in Teaching in Higher Education would be an asset
    3. A strong research track record

     

     

    ADDITIONAL ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

     

    • An interest in developing services to industry will also be an important advantage.
    • Demonstrate a clear commitment to combining research as well as teaching, and show evidence of successful educational practice.
    • Offer teaching through a variety of means including lectures, practicals, small group tutorials, problem-based learning, and ‘e-learning’ initiatives, and will be expected to innovate in each of these areas.
