UTech will be leading a Business, Study & Cultural Tour to China during period May to June 2014, in collaboration with our partner institution, Sias International University, which was recognized in 1998 as the first university in China to offer an American bachelor’s degree and was approved by the Chinese government to fly both the American and Chinese flags. The Business, Study & Cultural Tour to China was initiated following the International Association of University Presidents’ (IAUP) meeting in Beijing in September 2013, when University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sias International University (Sias) and other Chinese Universities. Pursuant to the UTech/Sias MOU, Prof. Rosalea Hamilton engaged discussions with Jinjin Chu, Dean, School of Chinese Language and Culture and Prof. Linda Fraser Jacobsen, Provost, at Sias, which led to the organization of a Business, Study & Cultural Tour to China specially designed for the participants from Jamaica.
